Rugby is a uniquely demanding sport — full-body conditioning, fast change of direction, and contact all in one game. Most young athletes never get dedicated training built around that. This program fixes that.
Grit Athletic Training’s youth rugby training in Santa Rosa focuses on the specific physical demands of the sport — explosive first steps, contact strength, and the conditioning needed to stay sharp deep into a match. Sessions take place outdoors at Hidden Valley Elementary, so athletes train the way they’ll actually play: on grass, in the open, with real space to move.

How a Rugby Training Session Works
Every youth rugby training session follows the same proven structure. Sessions start with a dynamic warmup to prepare the body to move at full intensity.
From there athletes move into sport-specific plyometrics and sprints — building the explosive power and acceleration mechanics that transfer directly to contact, change of direction, and breakaway speed on the pitch.
Every session closes with balance and strength training to build the foundation that makes power sustainable and keeps athletes healthy through a full season of contact.
Sessions are 60 minutes, run at Hidden Valley Elementary in Santa Rosa, and are open to athletes ages 6–18. Contact Oliver to get started.

What should my athlete bring to a session?
Comfortable athletic clothing, sneakers or cleats, and water. Sessions are held outdoors at Hidden Valley Elementary in Santa Rosa, so dressing for the weather is a good idea.
